About the treatment

Sessions last for three quarters of an hour. Subsequent sessions will last for three quarters of an hour. It is a good idea to have eaten something light beforehand. During your first treatment you will be asked about symptoms and any treatment you have received so far. A full medical case history will be taken.

Helen will feel your pulse on both wrists as well as looking at your tongue, as the structure, colour and coating can provide information regarding your health. All of this information will help to identify what is likely to be at the root of your problems and will form the basis of an individual treatment plan.

Acupuncture needles are extremely fine. Only sterile, disposable needles are used. When the needles are inserted the sensation is often described as tingling or a dull ache. Needles are left in for around 20 minutes. During this time, you can relax and rest. The amount of treatments needed vary according to the individual. The more chronic the condition, the more likely you are to need treatment over a longer period. Some change is usually felt after 4 or 5 treatments done on a weekly basis. Some people's health may improve quickly and dramatically, whilst for others, changes may be slower and more subtle.
